MOUNT PROSPECT POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING OFFENDER IN SCAM
The Mount Prospect Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying an offender involved in the theft and scam of an 82 year old Mount Prospect woman. On October 10, 2013, the female offender (pictured above) approached the victim outside the Aldi grocery store, located at 730 East Rand Road, and started a conversation. The above female offender and a second male offender convinced the victim they had a winning lottery ticket and would split the money from the winning ticket worth $650,000.00, with the victim. The offenders requested the victim provide money to help pay the taxes on the winnings. The victim withdrew a large sum of money from her bank and gave it to the offenders. The offenders left the area and never gave the victim any money.

The Mount Prospect Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit would like to take this opportunity to remind residents of some tips to avoid becoming the victim of a scam. Remember if the deal sounds “too good to be true”, it most likely is. Never give money to anyone who approaches you with promises to share even more money with you, this is a scam.
